Our rare Antique American Chestnut flooring is made from timbers and other interior barn wood and has a distinctive grain pattern. Planks ranges in color from light to medium honey and contain evidence of their age and their former life including blackened nail holes, insect marks, weathered cracks and some patina. An Aged Woods® Antique American Chestnut floor is uniquely beautiful with minimum character and minimum patina.
Due to a blight, this species went extinct in the beginning of the 20th century. Efforts are under way to revive it by hybridizing, but reclaiming is the only source for American Chestnut, Castenea Dentata.
