Reclaimed Character Heartpine Product Details
Antique Reclaimed Character Heartpine Flooring – Overview
We remill our Antique Character Heartpine flooring from reclaimed factory and warehouse timbers. Planks contain 50% – 100% heartwood, nail holes, tight knots and some checking as evidence of the wood’s former life. This is a very durable floor that represents the Classic Heartpine look that works well with both rustic and contemporary decors. with a lot of character and minimum patina.
Out of all of the trees native to the U.S., Heartpine, a.k.a. heart of pine or Pinus Palustrus, has the most interesting history. Heartpine trees, for the most part intact as TREES, were taken from the Colonies back to England to be made into ships’ masts for the Royal Navy. Long, straight and especially strong, they were ideal. The tree’s use for ship building didn’t stop there; the tar pitch was used to seal the wooden hulls. After independence, America’s Navy continued using the valuable resource.

- We are just as happy to discuss the product with the installer(s) if they have any questions.
