The Magnificent Mile gets a Timberland!

The doors opened on August 10, 2012, giving shoppers on the Chicago’s Magnificent Mile access to the newest Timberland store.

According to their press release, “Timberland was welcomed into the Greater Chicago area with great enthusiasm when we opened the doors to our Skokie, IL storefront last year, and we jumped at the opportunity to open up another shop on Michigan Ave., one of the world’s greatest shopping hubs.”

Following in the eco-conscious footsteps of Timberland® retail locations around the world, the new 3,500 square foot space is designed to reflect the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, through the use of recycled materials and other environmentally-responsible building practices.

Build-out features include Aged Woods® reclaimed wood flooring and industrial machinery used for table bases; recycled stoneware floor tiles; FSC-certified woods; reduced-wattage LED lighting; Energy Star-eligible equipment and appliances; low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints; and water-conserving plumbing fixtures.

The North Michigan Ave. location will offer Timberland’s Earthkeepers® collection – made with natural and recycled materials and stylish from top to sole. Additionally, Timberland has designed an assortment of Chicago-inspired footwear and t-shirts exclusively for the Michigan Avenue location.

Our history with Timberland goes back seventeen years to 1995 when we supplied our first floor to them for their store in The Westchester located in White Plains, NY, followed by stores in Denver’s Cherry Creek Mall, Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza, The Woodfield Mall in Schaunmberg, IL, The King of Prussia Mall, Stamford Town Plaza and The Mall at Short Hills. International locations included Eaton’s Toronto Center as well as Covenant Garden in London, England.

Timberland has used our flooring for the showroom at their headquarters in Stratham, NH, as well as the Manhattan showrooms where they “sell” department stores like Macy and Bloomies on the store-within-a-store “concept stores.”

We are proud to be part of Timberland’s commitment to sustainability.
